New Direct Route Between the UK and Halifax

Nova Scotia has never been more accessible for British visitors

Starting this summer, another non-stop flight to Nova Scotia will make a holiday to this beautiful and diverse province an easy choice!

WestJet will be offering a seasonal direct flight between Manchester, UK and Halifax, Nova Scotia, from 5th June to 24th October, 2020. The flight will depart four times per week and will be the quickest route to North America from Manchester with just over a six-hour journey there and a five-hour trip back. WestJet also offers non-stop flights to Halifax from London Gatwick and Glasgow. Air Canada currently offers connecting flights to Nova Scotia out of London Heathrow.

Tourism Nova Scotia will continue to work with their industry partners in the UK to raise awareness of Nova Scotia as a holiday destination. Emma Cashmore, Tourism Nova Scotia’s UK Account Director,  of Axis Travel Marketing Ltd. said:

“We are thrilled that WestJet is launching a new non-stop flight from Manchester to Halifax, Nova Scotia. Having another direct regional flight opens up the Northwest to the province and indeed all of Atlantic Canada.  The UK is the number one overseas market for Nova Scotia with over 31,000 Brits visiting last year and 55% visitation growth over the last six years.  Our aim is to continue this growth and help support this new route by working closely with our partners on joint marketing campaigns, training and FAM trips.”

Last year, Tourism Nova Scotia partnered with WestJet on a London Taxi advertising campaign to highlight the variety of things to see and do on a Nova Scotian holiday, as well as the direct flights from London.Tourism Nova Scotia also partnered with Air Canada and WestJet on digital marketing campaigns to encourage UK travellers to book a trip to the province. 2020 will see strategic promotions to support the London, Glasgow and new Manchester routes.
