As excitement builds for the Coronation of King Charles III, MSC Cruises has announced the celebrations to take place on board MSC Virtuosa, allowing guests to join in the merriment along with the rest of the country. Festivities on the ship, a firm favourite for Brits thanks to no-fly options from Southampton, will include several new additions and exclusive events for guests to celebrate this momentous occasion while at sea.
Coronation Gala Dinner
To kick off the many celebrations planned, guests will be invited to attend an exclusive Coronation Gala Dinner. What better way to get in the mood than to don your finest outfit to ring in this historic moment in style, just as the Royals do.
British classics
MSC Virtuosa will offer several new, limited-edition menu items to guests joining sailings departing around the time of the Coronation. The first specially created dish is titled King’s Summer Pudding, which is a clotted ice cream dessert served with a wild berry compote. What could be more British than staples such as pasties, bangers and mash and fish and chips, which guests can tuck into? Finally, a special coronation high tea will be served as part of the standard buffet menu, which is included on every MSC Cruise, featuring firm-favourites such as sandwiches, scones, and cake.
A cake fit for a King
MSC Virtuosa’s talented on-board pastry team will be tirelessly working away to create a giant ‘crown cake’, which will be on display in the onboard Infinity Atrium, for guests to view and of course taste.
Coronation décor and event screening
MSC Virtuosa will be decked out with bunting, union jacks and various other themed decorations to create a patriotic atmosphere on board. The Coronation will also be broadcast live for guests to watch in the ships many restaurants, bars and lounges, making sure that no one misses any of the pomp and circumstance.
Brand new entertainment
The Cruise Director on board MSC Virtuosa will be revealing a brand-new entertainment programme ahead of the bank holiday weekend, which is sure to excite and delight all on board.
