Over 150 Hays Travel Personal Travel Consultants (PTCs) raised an impressive £2,445 for Young Minds at a charity bingo event in December, and now – thanks to match funding from the Hays Travel Foundation – Young Minds will receive a total donation of £4,890.

Head of Hays Travel PTC division, Tanya Cooper, and a working party of Business Development Coaches organised the event. Together they set out to involve as many of their PTC agents as possible in raising money for Young Minds, the UK’s leading charity fighting for children and young people’s mental health, which members chose in a vote.

The organisers planned a fun day of virtual bingo and prize giveaways, concluding with a bingo and quiz evening. PTCs donated £10 per game during the day and £20 for the evening events and everyone who donated to Young Minds was entered into a prize draw to win some spectacular prizes.

Tanya Cooper said: “We are very grateful to our supplier partners for their huge generosity. Vista, Celebrity Cruises, Beachcomber, Cosmos, MSC, Wendy Wu, Traveltopia, Travelpack, Oceania, Cunard, NCL, Holland America, and Ever After donated some incredible prizes which our lucky PTCs were thrilled to win. Plus, there were fabulous hampers, vouchers, and treats to win and three fam trips.

Hays Travel Chief Operating Officer, Jonathon Woodall-Johnston, said: “The day was a massive success – making a huge £2,445 for Young Minds – and really brought our network of PTCs together and we received lots of positive feedback. I was pleased to donate the most sought-after prize – two Hays Travel SMILE cushions!”

What some of the Personal Travel Consultants who took part had to say:

Michele Kirkbride: “I loved our motivational get togethers planning the event – working together was so much fun and brought us all together as one amazing team. I am looking forward to what this year brings and seeing how much we can raise as a team again.”

Sarah Melton: “The event was a fantastic opportunity to contribute to such a meaningful cause and I couldn’t believe it when I won the trip to Mauritius! The best part about being involved was meeting some incredible people and making lifelong friends along the way.”

Steph Haden: “I loved the event which raised an amazing amount of money. It was a good idea allowing everyone to join in at various times throughout the day and great fun seeing everyone. There were some great prizes, and I was lucky enough to win a £100 voucher from MSC and an afternoon tea voucher from Wendy-Wu!”

Ryan Lambton: “The build up to this event was so much fun – there was a real buzz around it all and it was so good to see everyone rallying together. It was refreshing to focus on giving, which was a humbling experience for me. The charity chosen made it even more worthwhile for me personally; it really was a pleasure to take part, thank you to everyone involved for organising such a fab event.”

Helen Thomas, PTC Business Development Manager, said: “Raising so much money was a phenomenal result from a real team effort, it was a pleasure to be part of the event and I couldn’t be prouder of the PTCs incredible work ethic.”
