The Government of Mongolia has announced that citizens of the UK and Ireland who are travelling to Mongolia for tourism purposes for up to 30 days, are temporarily exempt from visa requirements

The Government of Mongolia has announced that citizens of the UK and Ireland who are travelling to Mongolia for tourism purposes for up to 30 days, are temporarily exempt from visa requirements until the end of 2025.

Visitors to Mongolia will also be able to experience travelling through the new international airport in the capital city Ulaanbaatar, which has greatly improved  domestic and international air connectivity and has the capacity to handle three million passengers annually.

“Situated between Russia and China and with a land area almost seven times that of the British Isles, Mongolia has a unique culture and heritage stretching back over 800 years to the rise of Chinggis (Genghis) Khan and the Mongol Empire” commented Mr Richard Holmes, Honorary Consul of Mongolia in Northern Ireland.

“The removal of the need to obtain a tourist visa in advance coupled with the recent opening of the new airport will greatly improve access to one of Asia’s most unique and captivating countries” added Mr Holmes.

With improved international flight connections now including those via Frankfurt, Istanbul, Bejing, Tokyo and Hong Kong, Mongolia is also a popular stop over on the epic train journey from Moscow to Beijing.
