With a career spanning over 30 years in the industry, Jill Chalmers, Managing Director of Glenapp Castle has won the coveted ‘Going the Extra Mile’ award from the Women in Tourism Top 100.

This is an excellent accolade and a great achievement, as only the most highly regarded female hoteliers are recognised in these awards.

Glenapp Castle, a 21-bedroom Relais & Chateaux Hotel in Ayrshire, Scotland, is thrilled to announce that its Managing Director, Jill Chalmers, has won the ‘Going the Extra Mile’ award from the Women in Tourism Top 100.

Women In Tourism (WIT) was created in June 2015 by a small group of destination leaders who are all passionate about the Scottish tourism industry and recognise both the challenges and opportunities for women within the sector.

With a career of 30+ years in the hospitality industry, Jill Chalmers is recognised as a leader in her field and this is best showcased through her hard work on the Covid-19 Campaigns. Jill spoke out on behalf of the hospitality industry, giving over 200 leading hotels a voice when restrictions brought by the pandemic had a fundamental and devastating impact on visitor numbers.

Jill has also dedicates much of her career to mentoring, supporting and developing Scotland’s future talent, helping a number of people within the industry grow their careers and prospects. She is always keen to share her own skills and knowledge to the younger generation as well as opportunities from the wider hospitality and tourism sector.
