Majorca Flights Operator Offering Alternatives to Customers

JetsGo Holidays are in the process of re-booking customers on alternative flights after the cancellation of the company's programme of charters from Belfast City Airport to Majorca, which was due to start this Sunday

Those who had booked on the planned JetsGo Holidays charters from Belfast City this coming summer are being accommodated on alternative scheduled flights from Belfast International Airport – and in some cases from Dublin – after the programme was pulled yesterday.

JetsGo Holidays were due to begin operating a dedicated weekly charter service to Palma de Mallorca Airport as part of their programme of new package holidays to the Spanish island resort scheduled to run until September.

Daniel Reilly of JetsGo Holidays, told Northern Ireland Travel News: “We are currently in the process of contacting all our passengers scheduled to fly with JetsGo Holidays from Belfast City Airport to Palma this summer.

“This is in order to re-book passengers onto alternative flights. The decision to place passengers on alternative flights is due to an unplanned relocation of the aircraft scheduled to fly the Belfast City route by the airline. All associated costs for new flights will be fully covered by JetsGo Holidays and all other holiday arrangements such as accommodation are not affected.

“Such instances have affected a number of companies and routes across Europe.

“We understand how important summer holidays are for families, and that’s why the decision has been made to offer alternative flying arrangements and for us to meet the cost of those alternatives, rather than just cancel holidays as many operators would do in these circumstances. We are currently in the process of contacting customers affected to discuss the alternative flight options available to them, customers are being contacted in order of their departure date and we hope to have everybody rearranged within the next week.”

JetsGo Holidays, which also operates from Manchester to Majorca, was established in 2014 offering fully protected package holidays to Spain.

The bookings are protected under the Package Travel Directive legislation and its understood that almost all those who have booked have already been offered alternatives with other scheduled airlines.

Only bookings on flights from Belfast City Airport are affected.
