LOT Polish Airlines Resume Flights From London-Vilnius

LOT Polish Airlines will resume flights between Vilnius and London City at end of August

On August 31st LOT will take-off again from Vilnius to London-City. Flights will be operated as many as 12 times per week by modern Embraer 190. This way LOT ensures the most convenient ways of travel between Lithuania and Great Britain.

Flights between Vilnius and London City (LCY) will continue to be operated as part of PSO formula (Public Service Obligation) which allows public entities to co-fund flights of special interest within the EU. LOT won the tender which The Government of Lithuania had opened in summer 2018. Flights between Vilnius and London-City were launched on May 1st 2019 for the first time. The route turned out to be very successful and popular among passengers travelling both from the UK and Lithuania.

Krzysztof Moczulski, LOT’s spokesperson said: “We are pleased to reintroduce flights between Vilnius and London (LCY). After very difficult times of lockdown and suspension of international air travels caused by the global pandemic, we observe an increased passenger demand for international travels. Therefore, by the end of this summer we would like to invite onboard passengers who regularly travel between Lithuania and Great Britain. The reintroduced flights are expected to attract a lot of interest and contribute to a strengthening of relations between Lithuania and Great Britain.”

Richard Hill, Chief Commercial Officer of London City Airport said: “We are delighted to welcome back LOT and the Vilnius route. For the significant Lithuanian community in East London, this will provide an opportunity to travel home from their local airport. And for Londoners, Vilnius and Lithuania represent great options for a late summer getaway.”
