London Tube To Shut Down For Two Days

A two day strike of the underground next month will spark issues among millions of commuters of London

It has been announced by the RMT Trade Union for strike action to take place on March 1st and 3rd. The reason for striking is because the London Underground are refusing to, “give assurances on jobs, pensions and working conditions”. The planned strike action will take place from 00:01 and 23:59 on both March 1 and 3.

The strike is in huge favour as 94 percent of London Underground staff voted for taking action. There have been growing fears of Sadiq Khan, the mayor of london will shut down the tube due to a black hole in TfL’s finances reaching £1.5billion.

A spokesperson for Mr Khan said, “Without a new, sustainable long-term funding deal there is a real risk of major projects being paused, cuts to services, trains falling into disrepair and closures on major road networks – all of which would disrupt services for hundreds of thousands of people and stifle the economic recovery of London and the country.”
