Jet2 Chief Executive Urges Public Support for High Street Travel Agents

Jet2.com and Jet2Holidays Chief Executive Steve Heapy is hoping the government creates a long term strategy for the high street travel agents going into 2022

Jet2.com and Jet2Holidays Chief Executive Steve Heapy is hoping the government creates a long term strategy for the high street travel agents going into 2022.

In a recent interview, Mr Heapy said the government must produce strategies to “breathe life” back into the high street and their travel agents as he hopes travel returns to its old normal.

“The travel agent model is by no means over. I think it’s got a very, very bright future. It just might be slightly different” He says during his recent interview with Travel Weekly.

Mr Heapy spoke of the new interactive way in which travel agents are now seeking their customers and how the agents are “a very important part of [Jet2’s] business”.

Jet2.com and Jet2Holidays have always been an advocator for local travel agents, with agents boosting the company’s sales beyond direct bookings.

Within the latest January edition of NI Travel News, Jet2 have produced a directory of all local travel agents in Northern Ireland, as they encourage customers to book through these agencies for comfort, relaxation and peace of mind whilst on holiday.

“It’s extremely onerous… and it’s not very relaxing if you have to start thinking about testing and filling forms” Mr Heapy continued. He explained how agents have the most up to date knowledge and information regarding the destinations in which customers are looking to book, and therefore will provide the most security and help during this time of uncertainty.

To find your local travel agent or to book a Jet2 holiday, please visit the directory at www.nitravelnews.com/directory/ or pick up the latest edition of Northern Ireland Travel News at your local travel agent.
