Japan Move Towards Removing Border Restrictions

From 10 June, Japan will reopen to international travellers heading to the country as part of a package guided tour experience

From 10 June, Japan will reopen to international travellers heading to the country as part of a package guided tour experience operated by an approved Japanese travel agency.

This seems to be the first step of Japan’s phased removal of border restrictions as Japan’s Prime Minister commented that, “We will resume accepting tourists on package tours with guides from the 10th of next month. Step by step we will aim to accept as we did in normal times, taking into consideration the status of infections.”

Starting 1 June,  permitted travellers from the UK will no longer be required to self-isolate or take an arrival test, regardless of vaccination status.  However, proof of a negative covid-19 test taken 72 hours prior to departure must be provided.
