Aer Lingus Pilots Suspend Industrial Action as They Consider Pay Deal

IALPA is to discontinue industrial action at the airline while it awaits the outcome of ballot of pilots

The Irish Travel Agents Association (ITAA) has welcomed the news that the Irish Airline Pilots Association (IALPA) has recommended its members accept the Labour Court proposals aimed at resolving its pay dispute with Aer Lingus.

IALPA is to discontinue industrial action at the airline while it awaits the outcome of ballot of pilots.

The Labour Court recommended a 17.75% pay raise for pilots, a recommendation Aer Lingus has accepted. The pilots’ ballot is due to open on Thursday 18 July and close on Tuesday 23 July.

Clare Dunne, CEO of the ITAA said, “It is a good day for the travelling public and we are delighted with the decision by IALPA last night to suspend industrial action. This is a very positive development for intending travellers and the tourism sector.

“The ITAA have consistently stated that compromise and engagement between IAPLA and Aer Lingus was the way only forward and best for every stakeholder involved, most importantly the customer. We look forward to a positive outcome.”
