Ireland’s Green List Reduced to Seven Countries

Ireland's updated Green List now contains just seven countries

Ireland’s updated Green List now contains just seven countries that holidaymakers can visit without having to quarantine upon return.

The change has removed seven countries and added four new countries.

Ireland’s Department of Foreign Affairs officials said the seven countries that can be visited with “normal precautions” now include Cyprus, Finland, Germany, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland.

All have among the lowest Covid rates in Europe and have combined strict restrictions with testing, contact tracing and social distancing programmes.

Countries on the list that was in effect from August 4 to September 20 but that have now been removed include Estonia, Greece, Greenland, Hungary, Italy, Norway and Slovakia.

Both Ryanair and Aer Lingus expressed concern that the Government’s adherence to the Green List strategy could undermine ongoing European Union efforts to implement a unified travel strategy aimed at helping the stricken aviation sector recover.
