International Travel Made Easy As 12-15-year-olds Gain Access to NHS Covid App

The Health Secretary, Sajid Javid has announced that 12-15-year olds will now be able to access the NHS Covid Pass to prove their vaccination status for international travel

The Health Secretary, Sajid Javid has announced that 12-15-year olds will now be able to access the NHS Covid Pass to prove their vaccination status for international travel.

This news comes after all children in the UK aged between 12-15-years-old have been called for their first dose of the coronavirus vaccine.

Children between those ages will be able to access the pass from today (Tuesday 14 December)

The Health Secretary stated that this announcement allows “even more people to be able to prove their vaccine status where it is needed.”

Other members of the government have reacted to this news, with Tory Former Health Minister Steve Brine saying how it is a “welcome announcement” as it would make international travel easier for families.

When asked about how children can access their NHS Covid Pass, due to children not being granted access to the NHS app utilised by adults, Sajid Javid had this to say “we will be publishing shortly on the website exactly how that will work but it is being rolled out as a digital pass in the same way it is working for adults starting today.”

Northern Ireland have not yet followed the UK on this ruling.

In Northern Ireland, Under 18s have been offered the second dose of their Covid-19 vaccinations.
