Holidaymakers Warned to Check with Airlines if Travelling to Germany This Weekend

Holidaymakers are being warned to check with their airline before travelling to the airport if they are flying to Germany

Travellers planning to head to Germany this weekend are being warned to check with their airline before heading to the airport.

A German labour union has called on workers at seven of the country’s airports to go on strike on Friday. This has had a knock-on effect on some flights.

The Verdi union said that the one-day walkout would affect the airports in Frankfurt, Munich, Stuttgart, Hamburg, Dortmund, Hannover and Bremen.

Munich, Frankfurt and Hamburg airports confirmed that they have cancelled most passenger flights because of the walk-out.

Ryanair and Aer Lingus offer direct flights to several German cities from Dublin. There are currently no direct flights to Germany from Belfast.
