Holidaymakers Warned About Immediate Paris Driving Bans

Tourist drivers and indeed all drivers are being warned about massive driving restrictions in Paris due to Ozone-Alarm controls in the city

Driving bans take place in the low emission zone of Paris and its agglomeration today July 25 and tomorrow July 26. Vehicles with the Crit’Air badges 4 and 5 as well as all vehicles without a vignette may no longer enter. In addition, all vehicles over 3.5 t are not allowed to pass through! All information now in the Green Zones App!

Due to high ozone levels, there is a concentration of pollutants in the greater Paris area. For this reason, the environmental zone has now been activated and currently only petrol engines registered from 1997 and diesel passenger cars registered from 2006 may enter.

The rules are even stricter for buses, trucks and motorhomes – only vehicles with a registration date beginning from 01.10.2009 (EURO 5) are still permitted to drive within the environmental zone. Details can be found on our website or in the free Green Zones app: Which vehicles get which Crit’Air badge? Who is not allowed to enter and when?

The current driving bans were decided at very short notice because air pollution in the French capital was increasing rapidly. For the moment, the driving bans are decided for two days. Tourists and international professional drivers should stay vigilant and keep themselves informed to avoid fines up to 375 euros. During the air pollution peak, there is a discounted day ticket for local public transport for only 3.80 euros.
