Heathrow will begin temperature screening trials on Thursday (21 May). The checks are designed to identify travellers who may be infected with COVID-19.
Thermal imaging cameras will automatically scan each passenger who flies into the terminal. If screening is deemed successful, this method of testing could be expanded to departure halls and connection areas.
Heathrow Chief Executive John Holland-Kaye has said the new measures could be ‘key to minimising transmission of Covid-19 across borders’.
