Heading to a European Final? Here’s What you Need to Know!

Football fans heading to Spain or France should be aware of entry requirements to avoid disappointment!

Recent weeks has seen many football fans eagerly booking trips to both the Champions League Final and the Europa League Final to cheer on their teams.

Let’s take a look at air, sea and land covid requirements for both countries.

Spain
For those heading to the Europa League Final on Wednesday (18th May), this is what you need before entering Spain;

By Air;

  • Travellers must provide proof of full vaccination- This means you need to show proof for two doses of an approved vaccine administered at least 14 days prior to arrival in Spain. Your last dose of the vaccine must have been administered within 270 days prior to arrival in Spain. If beyond this, travellers will then need to provide proof of a booster jab. There is no requirement for 14 days to have passed between receiving your booster jab and entering Spain meaning you can take your booster jab at any time prior to departure.
  • If unvaccinated, travellers must provide proof of recovery from Covid-19 in the last 6 months. A medical certificate or recovery record is used to provide proof.
  • Unvaccinated travellers without proof of recovery will be denied entry and may be subject to a fine.

Land;

  • Travellers crossing the land border from Portugal or France into Spain are required to show proof of a negative covid-19 test, proof of full vaccination or proof of recovery.

Sea;

  • Travellers entering Spain by sea are required to show proof of a negative covid-19 test, proof of full vaccination or proof of recovery.

France

By Air;

  • Travellers can provide proof of full vaccination- This means you need to show proof for two doses of an approved vaccine administered at least 7 days prior to arrival in France ( Johnson & Johnson second dose must be taken at leas t28 days prior). Your last dose of the vaccine must have been administered within 270 days prior to arrival in France. If beyond this, travellers will then need to provide proof of a booster jab.
  • Those unvaccinated or not fully vaccinated must provide proof of a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours before travel, or an antigen test result taken within 48 hours before travel.
  • Travellers may also be required to complete a EU-PLF form.

By Land;

  • The above applies

By Air;

  • The above applies

Travellers flying direct back to the UK or Ireland will not be subject to any covid-19 travel restrictions.
