Hays Travel has announced a programme of activities to engage communities ahead of His Majesty the King’s Coronation

Hays Travel has announced a programme of activities to engage communities ahead of His Majesty the King’s Coronation. Over 400 of Hays Travel’s shops will close on Saturday 6 May, 2023 meaning staff can see His Majesty King Charles III crowned alongside The Queen Consort in a ceremony at Westminster Abbey.

Owner and Chair of Hays Travel, Dame Irene Hays, said:

“We know the excitement is building for His Majesty The King’s Coronation and we want to encourage all our staff to have the chance to enjoy the build-up and watch the historic ceremony on the day. We will be encouraging the teams in our shops to collaborate with their local communities, and we know that our divisions working at home, as well as the staff at our headquarters in Sunderland, will want to get involved too. We can’t wait to see what they come up with!”

Head of Retail, Paula Barrett, said:

“When we discussed it, the decision to close our shops for His Majesty’s Coronation on Saturday 6 May was unanimous. The teams in our Hays Travel shops are very connected to their local communities and we know they will enjoy working together on developing plans for window displays and other activities.”

Plans for community activities linked to the Coronation are being developed and more details will be shared when they are finalised.
