Hays Travel Opens Brand New Branch in Banbridge

A launch event on 30 May saw special guest Rea Campbell perform in the new branch

Hays Travel Banbridge has opened its doors. A launch event on 30 May saw special guest Rea Campbell perform in the new branch, which will bring welcome footfall to the area and create job opportunities.

Councillor Paul Greenfield, Lord Mayor of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon officially opened the branch and a plaque was mounted to commemorate his visit.

Heading up the store at 51 Newry Street is branch manager, Karen Lavery. Karen has worked in travel for 25 years and will be joined by a team of four expert travel consultants.

Karen said:

“I am delighted to be part of the team at the new Hays Travel Banbridge. Everyone was dreaming of their holidays in lockdown and it’s great to see people so excited to be travelling again.

“I have lived in Banbridge my whole life and there has been such a buzz in the town around the opening. It’s been great meeting everyone and I look forward to welcoming customers through the door.

“There is still plenty of availability for summer 2023 with many late booking deals ready to be snapped up. We are ready and waiting to help the people of Banbridge find the perfect getaway.”

The UK’s largest independent travel agent opened its first branch in Northern Ireland in October 2019 after the takeover of the Thomas Cook retail portfolio. The new addition in Banbridge will bring the total number of branches to 23 across the province.

Nicola Allison, Hays Travel Regional Sales Manager for Northern Ireland, said:

“We are very excited to be able to bring Hays Travel to Banbridge. Since opening out first branch in Northern Ireland in 2019, our customers have been benefitting from award-winning customer service and our ability to provide the best holiday from a huge range of suppliers.

“After the uncertainty of travel over the last few years, customers are looking for that extra level of reassurance that someone is on the other end of the phone to help them. We have been able to build up a lot of trust with our customers that we don’t take for granted.

“With package holiday providers adding new routes from Belfast all the time, the product offering keeps on growing. Since the pandemic, we have seen an increase in bookings for ‘Bucket List’ destinations such as South Africa, Thailand and around the world cruises.

“We will be recruiting for a range of roles in Banbridge including Assistant Manager and Travel Consultant positions. There is also the exciting opportunity for an apprentice to join the team.”
