The state of emergency declared throughout the island of Rhodes has officially been lifted by Greek Authorities.

Greek authorities declared a state of emergency last week as a result of the wildfires spreading throughout the central and southern regions of Rhodes. This state of emergency was officially declared on 26 July 2023.

The UK Foreign Office has confirmed the lifting of the state of emergency, stating that “Extreme temperatures are affecting many areas of Greece. There are active wildfires across Greece, including in populated areas on the mainland and a number of islands.”

“The ‘state of emergency’ in Rhodes, declared by the Greek authorities on 26 July, has now been lifted.”
