Global Tourism Announce New Safety and Wellbeing Measures

Global Tourism, the umbrella group for Topdeck Travel and Back-Roads Touring have outlined the steps they are taking for their trips and operations once travel resumes post Covid-19

Global Touring, the umbrella group of travel brands that includes Topdeck Travel and Back-Roads Touring, has announced new measures being introduced for its trips once international and domestic travel resumes post Covid-19.

Topdeck, the provider of group travel for 18-30 somethings, and Back-Roads, the provider of small group tours along the road less travelled, have been reviewing their operations and working to define new protocols and safety measures for travel. With customer wellbeing the prime concern, the new measures being put in place will help ensure customers can still have the best travel experience once it’s safe to do so again.

The new measures being implemented by Topdeck and Back-Roads include:

Increased hygiene standards

All coaches will be thoroughly cleaned before each trip starts and regularly throughout. Drivers and Crew will be paying extra attention to cleanliness and ensuring all surfaces cleaned and sanitised throughout the trips. Hand sanitiser will also be available for customers to use. All trips start with a full briefing and these will now include information on how customers can help to keep themselves safe and healthy during the trip.

Enhanced crew training

Before travel resumes all Crew members will undergo further training in response to coronavirus risks. Global Touring will be ensuring all Crew are equipped with the skills required to help keep customers as safe as possible whilst ensuring they have the best possible travel experience.

Working with trusted partners and suppliers

Global Touring is working with all its accommodation and experience suppliers to ensure cleaning protocols, hygiene records, customer ratings and risk assessments are centred around customer safety and wellbeing.

Booking flexibility

Increased flexibility for all new bookings is being introduced until further notice, allowing customers to change their departure date or trip up to 40 days before travel – with no changes fees or penalties (*terms and conditions apply).

David Gendle, General Manager Sales at Global Touring commented on the new measures being introduced: “We know that travel, and group travel, will need to change for now. Global Touring wants to do everything it can to make sure Topdeck and Back-Roads customers are kept as safe as possible as the world re-opens for travel. Customer wellbeing has always been our priority and in the wake of the global coronavirus pandemic we have been researching and reviewing our operations to ensure we can adapt and operate our trips safely. We know that these are uncertain times and that plans can change so we’re also providing increased flexibility for all new bookings made.”

David continued: “These have been difficult times for everyone and as a company we have a duty of care to our customers. We want to reassure them that with these extra measures we’ll be ready to help them get back out there and see the world, whilst helping to keep them safe.”

Global Touring brands will be continually reviewing the measures and protocols being put in place to ensure trip operations are in line with government regulations, World Health Organisation (WHO) guidelines and industry best practise.
