Get In On The Quack With New Ducks!

Hastings Hotels is giving the Northern Ireland public the chance to help create the next addition to its famous duck family

Northern Ireland’s largest collection of hotels is known across the globe for the ducks in the bedrooms of their seven hotels which guests can take home.

Over the last 20 years there have been over 50 different ducks created and some local favourites have included the Duck of Thrones, Rory Quack-Ilroy, Causeway Duck, Titanic Duck, Giro Duck, Wally the Walled City Duck and City of Culture Duck.

Hastings is now creating a special duck to celebrate Northern Ireland’s best loved sayings and is asking for the public to get in touch to have their say.

Julie Hastings, Creator of the famous ducks and Marketing Director of Hastings Hotels said: “Our ducks really are loved by every guest staying in our hotels and every time we release a new one we get calls from people asking us to send them.

“ We reckon that one million people throughout the world are proud owners of a Hastings duck. We have lots of fun with them and guests love to have their photos taken with the big versions of some of the ducks we’ve had made.

Something else talked about all over the world are the much-loved Northern-Irish phrases. Recently Jamie Dornan was quizzed on them by Vanity Fair, they’ve been included in hit series ‘Line of Duty’ with ‘Ted Hastings’ asking ‘Do you think I came up the Lagan in a bubble?’ and one of the most famous is Charlie Lawson’s ‘So it is’.”

“We’re delighted to announce that the next Hastings Hotels’ duck will be a celebration of the famous phrases we all know and love here and we’re inviting the people of Northern Ireland to have their say on what should go on it. You never know, the next time you stay in one of our hotels, you could find your suggestion on the duck you take home,” Julie added.

To put your suggestion forward go to the Hastings Hotels Facebook page by Thursday, May 23 and look for the ‘What’s the Quack’ post.
