Gary Barlow’s Food and Wine Tour: Australia sponsored by Hays Travel Premieres

Gary Barlow's Food and Wine Tour: Australia, sponsored by Hays Travel is available on ITVX

Gary Barlow’s Food and Wine Tour: Australia, sponsored by Hays Travel, premiers at 2.15pm this Friday 11 April on ITV1 and will be available on ITVX.

Produced in association with Tourism Australia, Rock Oyster Media produced the six-episode production for ITV, who recommissioned another ‘wine tour’ following the success of Gary Barlow’s Wine Tour: South Africa, his debut travel series that aired on the channel last year.

In each episode Gary travels to a different part of Australia meeting celebrity guests – including Sophie Ellis-Bexter, Dannii Minogue, Tim Minchin and Ronan Keating – and learns more about winemaking and pairing local food and wine from chefs and wine producers. The tour sees Gary travels across the Northern Territory, South Australia, Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, and Western Australia.

Lisa McAuley Hays Travel said: “We are delighted to sponsor Gary Barlow’s Food and Wine Tour: Australia, with ITV and our partners at Tourism Australia. It’s a perfect fit for us, linking our work to increase long-haul bookings with the strong relationship we have with Tourism Australia.

“With customers keen to see more of the world and enjoy new experiences we have seen growth in interest and bookings for Australia. So that agents in our retail branches have all the knowledge and skills they need to help customers we have worked with Tourism Australia to roll out a comprehensive training programme, which has been hugely popular and very well received.”

The first episode will be broadcast at 2.15pm Friday 11 April featuring New South Wales.

More about Gary Barlow’s Food and Wine Tour: Australia

Last year, Tourism Australia and the State Tourism Offices of Western Australia, South Australia, the Northern Territory, Queensland, New South Wales, and Victoria, partnered to support the production of a six-part series for ITV starring Take That singer, Gary Barlow.

In the series, Gary Barlow’s Food and Wine Tour: Australia, the pop icon visits the six states to explore Australia’s food and wine offering – plus a beer here and there as well. From the coastal cities of Sydney to Perth, to the copper Red Centre, to the turquoise waters of Queensland, the lush green wine regions of South Australia and Victoria and more, Gary’s journey takes him to many regions across the country. The show was filmed to coincide with the singer’s 2024 tour around the country with pop band Take That, who toured the country exactly 30 years after their first tour Down Under in 1995. Once off stage, Gary embarked on a journey that took in six States and Territories.

In each episode, he is joined by a British or Australian friend with whom he explores Australia’s unique culinary scene, meeting inspiring Australian characters along the way, including tourism operators, chefs, brewers, winemakers and more. Famous faces who will appear in the series include Dannii Minogue, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Ronan Keating, Andi Peters, and John Bishop.

Tourism Australia said: “This is the first time Tourism Australia, and the State Tourism Offices have invested in a television series on this scale since 2019, so we’re thrilled to see Australia back on screens with the best of Australia being shown to millions here in the UK.

“We know from our tourism partners in the UK that broadcast still wields enormous influence with British travellers, who do pick up the phone and book the incredible journeys they see on screen. We hope this series will compel those thinking about their next long-haul adventure to be inspired by the diverse array of unique locations, experiences and local characters Australia offers and to put it top of the list.

The series was produced in association with Tourism Australia and its State Tourism partners by Rock Oyster Media and sponsored by Hays Travel.
