A French Airport is being renamed to honour the late Queen Elizabth II after getting Royal approval.

French airport Le Touquet-Paris-Plage International Airport will soon be known as Elizabeth II Le Touquet-Paris-Plage International Airport after getting approval from King Charles.

Le Touquet officials proposed the name change to Buckingham Palace shortly after the Queen’s death.

The French seaside resort has strong links with the Royal Family.

The Queen’s uncle Edward VIII often holidayed there, sometimes with a young Elizabeth.

In an official statement, Le Touquet officials said: “This is a tribute to a great Queen and her uncle who had a fondness for France.”

Le Touquet is about one hour’s drive south of Calais.
