France Moves to BAN Cheap Airfares

A cheap holiday to France by air may be off the cards as the country seeks to ban cheap airfares

France wants to go one step further in its fight against flights as it seeks to impose a minimum ticket price to end ultra cheap airfares.

Transport Minister Clément Beaune plans to propose a minimum price policy to the EU saying the aim is to reduce carbon emissions.

The Minister claims: “€10 cheap airfares isn’t possible anymore. It doesn’t reflect the price for the planet.”

France has already taken some drastic measures, banning short flights where train travel is available.

However, European train tickets are often twice as expensive as flights.
