A general strike over pensions is set to take place throughout France today (7 March) with passengers travelling by air, sea and rail warned to expect delays.

Advice issued by the Foreign Office states, “Several unions have called for rolling cross-sector strike action and demonstrations across France from Tuesday 7 March.”

The Foreign Office further added that passengers should check updates with the individual airline, rail operator or ferry company prior to travelling.

“Industrial action may lead to disruption to services. Please check the latest advice with operators before travelling, avoid demonstrations and follow the advice of local authorities.”

It is believed that strike action may continue into Wednesday 8 March.
