Visitors to Sri Lanka are being warned of possible outbreaks of violence in the run up to the presidential election on Saturday (November 16, 2019).
The Foreign Office (FCO) said there had already been sporadic incidents during the campaign.
“It is possible these will continue up to and beyond polling date,” it said.
“You should take appropriate security precautions, follow local advice, comply with security instructions and avoid large gatherings, protests and rallies,” added the FCO.
