The Foreign Office has updated travel advice for holidaymakers heading to Lanzarote this week as the island has been hit by extreme rain.

On Saturday 12 April, Lanzarote experienced heavy rainfall as a result of Storm Oliver, leaving roads flooded and buildings damaged. Costa Teguise was one of the areas most impacted by Storm Oliver.

While the state of emergency issued on Saturday 12 April has been lifted, the Foreign Office has warned holidaymakers that, “heavy rainfall and flooding in Lanzarote occurred over the weekend. Journeys may be affected. If you are in Lanzarote or travelling to Lanzarote, follow the advice of the local authorities and monitor local weather updates.”
