Etihad Guest, the loyalty programme of Etihad Airways, has announced a major expansion of The Extraordinary Challenge, adding 12.5 million bonus miles to the prize pool. This brings the total number of Etihad Guest Miles available to win to more than 20 million, offering over 200 members the chance to take home travel rewards of a lifetime.
Launched last month, the global competition initially offered a top prize of five million Etihad Guest Miles to the first traveller to visit 15 of the airline’s new destinations. Second and third place prizes include three million and one million miles respectively.
Following a surge in participation and overwhelming enthusiasm from members around the world, Etihad has expanded the challenge with a new milestone-based prize category called The Extraordinary Milestones. Under the new format, the first 100 participants to visit five new destinations will each earn 25,000 miles, while the first 100 to reach 10 destinations will receive 100,000 miles each. Participants can earn miles at each milestone and remain in contention for the main prizes, with the first place reward now potentially reaching 5,125,000 miles.
Mark Potter, Managing Director of Etihad Guest, commented: “We’ve seen an amazing response across the globe since we launched The Extraordinary Challenge, and expect to see over 50,000 member sign-ups as more destinations come online. Having seen the desire and determination of so many, we wanted to reward Etihad Guest members even more by giving flight to their ambition with more prize miles and potential for 200 additional winners.”
Etihad Guest Miles earned through the challenge can be redeemed for flights, holiday packages, or thousands of items from the Etihad Guest Reward Shop. To put the prizes in perspective, five million miles could be used for approximately 40 First Class flights, 70 Business Class journeys, or over 500 Economy trips.
The challenge includes travel to 15 newly launched destinations across Etihad’s growing network, including Addis Ababa, Algiers, Atlanta, Chiang Mai, Hanoi, Hong Kong, Krabi, Medan, Peshawar, Phnom Penh, Prague, Sochi, Taipei, Tunis, and Warsaw.
To fuel the competitive spirit, a live digital dashboard allows participants to track their standing anonymously and collect digital passport stamps for each destination visited, which can be shared on social media using the hashtag #EYextraordinarymiles.
The Extraordinary Challenge is open to both new and existing Etihad Guest members and runs until 25 May 2026. Winners of the top three prizes will be determined by the scheduled departure time (in GMT) of their final qualifying flight. In the case of a tie, the earlier booking time will be used to decide rankings.
