EPIC Named Europe’s Leading Tourist Attraction for Third Time

EPIC is the first visitor attraction to be voted Europe’s Leading Tourist Attraction award three times in a row

EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum has been voted as Europe’s Leading Tourist Attraction at the World Travel Awards for the third year running.

The World Travel Awards are among the most prestigious travel awards, and this year they are celebrating their 28th anniversary. EPIC is the first visitor attraction to be voted as Europe’s Leading Tourist Attraction award three times in a row.

At EPIC, visitors can discover Ireland from the outside in and find out why saying “I’m Irish” is one of the biggest conversation starters, no matter where you are. EPIC tells the moving and unforgettable stories of those who left the island of Ireland, and how they influenced and shaped the world. EPIC embraces the past and the future with 1,500 years of Irish history and culture housed in its atmospheric vaults.

Patrick Greene, CEO and Museum Director of EPIC, commented on the win; “We are very proud to accept the title of Europe’s Leading Tourist Attraction for the third year in a row. It is testament to the resilience, creativity and commitment of all our staff to providing a world class experience. Being recognised by our visitors, neighbours and stakeholders in voting for us to win this title ahead of so many iconic European landmarks really is a boost in the times we are in and for Irish tourism. We continue to honour the diaspora abroad and recognise the vital contributions that Irish people have made worldwide. Thank you to the thousands of people who have voted for us.”

Catherine Martin, Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, congratulated EPIC on the win, saying; I wish to congratulate EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum on their third win of Europe’s Leading Tourist Attraction at the World Travel Awards. Irish creativity, culture and community is showcased excellently in their Museum. Their commitment to providing quality educational events, to hosting exhibitions uncovering lesser known stories of the Irish Diaspora and to giving visitors a world class experience lies at the heart of their win. EPIC is an excellent cultural ambassador within and for Ireland. This is a win for EPIC, for Dublin and for Irish Tourism.”

This midterm break, EPIC is the perfect place for families to come and experience an exciting range of events. From 24th – 25th October, visitors can immerse themselves in an authentic Halloween experience for Samhain, Ireland’s Family Halloween Festival. For something even spookier, EPIC’s ‘Trick or Treat if you dare’ event, taking place on 30th October, offers a one of a kind Halloween experience, deep within the eerie vaults of EPIC. More information on both events can be found at www.epicchq.com.

This December, Santa and his elves will be meeting families at Santa’s Grotto at EPIC and an unforgettable Christmas experience is promised for those who visit. Tickets to visit Santa at www.epicchq.com.
