easyJet Operates Biggest Ever Flying Programme from Northern Ireland and Carries Record Number of Customers

The airline flew a record 5.3 million customers to and from Northern Ireland in its 2024 financial year, the most in a year since operations began

easyJet have announced the results of its 2024 financial year, which seen the airline deliver a 34% improvement in profit before tax of £610 million. This was driven by another consecutive record summer and 56% improvement in easyJet holidays’ profits.

The airline flew a record 5.3 million customers to and from Northern Ireland in its 2024 financial year, the most in a year since operations began.

In the last year, easyJet has based a ninth aircraft at Belfast International Airport, supporting around 400 direct and indirect jobs, while its network has gone from strength to strength. Nine new routes have been launched, including services to Prague, Marrakech, Fuerteventura, Larnaca, and Enfidha from Belfast International and to Alicante and Palma from Belfast City.

The airline also launched operations from City of Derry Airport for the very first time, with new routes to Edinburgh and Liverpool which took off this winter.

easyJet holidays has seen beach packages from Belfast proving popular, with Majorca, the Algarve and Tenerife among the top destinations from holidaymakers, while Paris was the tour operator’s bestselling city break.

Last week, the airline announced yet another new route to the city of Reus in Spain, from Belfast International. The new service will take off from 5 April 2025 and operate twice weekly on Tuesdays and Saturdays, providing customers in Northern Ireland with even more fantastic destinations across Europe.

easyJet launched services from Northern Ireland for the first time in 1998, with flights from Belfast International to London Luton, and opened a base at Belfast International in 2002, where it now bases nine Airbus A320 family aircraft and employs nearly 500 people including Pilots, Cabin Crew and Engineers.

easyJet has remained committed to Northern Ireland by maintaining a continuous operation and has grown to operate up to nearly 900 flights a week, offering 46 routes to 13 countries across Europe and North Africa and has flown over 77 million customers since operations began.
