Dublin Airport Gears Up for St Patrick’s Day Travel Rush

Dublin Airport expect more than 430,000 travellers this week in St Patrick's Day travel rush

Dublin Airport is expecting more than 430,000 travellers to pass through their doors as holidaymakers look to make use of the long weekend for St Patrick’s Day and the airport has assured passengers that they are well prepared to deal with the passengers numbers.

The St Patrick’s holiday weekend is the traditional start of the international tourist season, and this week the airport expects to see more than 430,000 travellers – 220,000 departing travellers and 212,000 arriving.

Kevin Cullinane, Group Head of Communications at the DAA, said the security system was working efficiently with 90% of passengers getting through security in 20 minutes or less. “We will be busy but we are well prepared.”

Irish music and dancing groups will be at the airport on Wednesday and Thursday to welcome visitors from the US.
