Using data from Booking.com, Preply analysed hotel prices between the 16th and 17th of March in both Ireland and the US to determine which cities had the biggest hotel price jumps for St. Patrick’s Day.

Belfast has the biggest spike in hotel prices for St. Patrick’s Day in both Ireland and the US. On average, hotel prices jumped a whooping 60.6% between the 16th and the 17th of March 2023.

Philadelphia, PE comes 2nd overall and is the city in the US with the biggest price jumps around St. Patrick’s Day with a 51.2% change on average for the same room in the same hotel on the 16th and on the 17th of March 2023. The city is known for its parade which is the 2nd oldest in the country after NYC.

Galway comes third in the ranking with a 38.6% spike in hotel prices for the holiday.

Derry comes closely behind in fourth position, with a 38.4% spike and Craigavon comes fifth, with hotel prices being 35% higher on the 17th than on the 16th.

The 6th overall and 2nd US city in the ranking is Chicago, Illinois. The city is known for dyeing its river a bright green for the occasion and has the 2nd biggest parade in the country after NYC.
