Meal pre-orders will be available from 1st March and will give customers the chance to order fresh meals before their flight through United Airlines website and mobile app.
This will ensure United Airlines customers get the meals they want while improving catering efficiency as well as supporting efforts to reduce food waste by minimising unconsumed fresh retails items.
The Airline will still offer their signature snack boxes, packaged snacks and beverages available to purchase onboard.
Aaron McMillan, Managing Director of Hospitality at United said, ““Preordering is a win for everyone – customers board the plane knowing they’ll get the meal they want*, our catering partners know exactly how much food to prepare for each flight and it helps our operation run even more smoothly and reduce food waste.”
He also added that the airline will continue to invest in improvements to their onboard food and beverage programme focusing on “Quality, consistency and customer choice.”
