Cruise ships are skipping calls at the Caribbean Island of Dominica as a result of civil unrest as the island.

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit expressed his sorrow over the recent spat of violence on the island during a poll for a new leader.

He addressed the situation as an ‘unwarranted blotch on our otherwise pristine record of peace’. All ships will be prevented from docking at Dominica until the general elections are over and normality has resumed.

Royal Caribbean, HAL and Princess Cruises are among the lines which feature port calls in Dominica. Travellers who believe they may be affected are advised to contact their local travel agency for updated information of itinerary revisions.
