A Bangor guesthouse is celebrating after being awarded a four-star accommodation grading by Tourism NI.

Cairn Bay Lodge was found to be of a “very high standard” and offer an “outstanding personal service” to guests.

Located directly overlooking Ballyholme Beach, the property is situated on one of Northern Ireland’s touring routes and is an excellent base to explore Belfast, North Down and the Ards Peninsula, South Down and the Mournes and the North Coast.

Guests can enjoy unique and individually styled rooms, some offering breath-taking views across the Irish Sea, as well as the gardens at the property.

The Tourism NI Quality Grading Scheme gives visitors a clear idea of the standards of accommodation, service and cleanliness that they can expect during their stay.

The scheme is open to hotels, guest houses, B&Bs, self-catering, hostels and guest accommodation with premises having the ability to achieve a grading of between one to five stars.

Chris Mullan, owner of Cairn Bay Lodge, said: “We are delighted and immensely proud to receive our four-star grading from Tourism NI.”

Mullan further added, “It would not have been possible without our wonderful team and their daily dedication. We look forward to working with Tourism NI to showcase our fantastic seafront accommodation, delicious food in The Starfish Cafe and relaxing treatments in the Sea Beauty Salon.”

Alison Leslie, Quality Assurance Manager at Tourism NI, said: “We are delighted to award Cairn Bay Lodge this well-deserved four-star grading.

“With its stunning view over Ballyholme Bay, this charming property is the perfect base for both local and international visitors to relax and unwind.

“Cairn Bay Lodge is a wonderful asset to the local area and I commend Chris and Jenny for all their efforts.”
