Contiki, Costsave & Trafalgar say change to Amber List rules will “pave the way” for travellers “to head abroad for a much-needed break”.

The UK government is currently discussing easing restrictions around travel to countries on the Amber List. Currently, travellers returning from Amber List countries have to self-isolate for 10 days and take a Covid test on days 2 and 8. If the new rules are implemented, travellers returning from Amber List countries could swerve these rules if they are fully vaccinated.

Donna Jeavons, Sales and Marketing Director UK & Europe for Contiki, Costsave & Trafalgar said: “This latest news will come as a boost for travellers, particularly our older audience who book through Trafalgar. This demographic is likely to have received their two doses of the vaccine and therefore the passport system will pave the way for them to head abroad for a much-needed break. For those still a little nervous to travel abroad at this time, a tour is the perfect way to discover a new destination in-depth whilst safe in the knowledge that all of the logistics and wellbeing protocols are being taken care of, so guests can just relax and enjoy their holiday.

“Whilst our younger audience might have to wait a little longer, we have seen a spike in searches for late Q3 and into Q4 as a result, for when they expect to be fully vaccinated. For under-25s, the chance to go overseas later in the year will arguably be better as it will be cheaper and less crowded. In the short term, it’s not all bad news for this audience – who can get their holiday fix at home in the UK. We’ve launched a wide range of domestic trips aimed at the UK market, from city breaks in Brighton and London to active breaks such as surf and yoga in Devon, hiking and bushcraft in the Lake District, Highlands Hiking and glamping, and paddleboarding in Wales. These trips mean that younger adults can still have a social Contiki experience this summer, with other young, likeminded explorers.”
