CLIA Highlights Cruise Sector’s Benefits to UK Economy

Cruise Lines International (CLIA) has highlighted the benefits of UK cruise tourism at the House of Commons

Cruise Lines International (CLIA) has highlighted the benefits of UK cruise tourism at an event in the House of Commons.

The event was sponsored by Royston Smith MP for Southampton Itchen, a constituency which includes the Port of Southampton.

Andy Harmer, CLIA Managing Director for UK and Ireland, said the event was  “about recognising how benefits extend beyond ports”.

Promising to “continue to support the growth of the sector” Maritime Minister Baroness Vere said: “The cruise industry has been vital for our economy, and creating jobs for thousands.”

Royston Smith MP said: “The cruise industry is extremely important to my constituency, supporting many regional businesses.”

“The UK cruise industry brings great economic benefits to our country.”
