US President Takes in Belfast and Beyond on Whistle-Stop Visit

PresidentJoe Biden began a 4 day trip on the Island of Ireland in Belfast

American President Joe Biden arrived in Northern Ireland on 11 April ahead of a 4 day visit to the Island of Ireland.

Biden was greeted at the foot of US Air Force 1 by UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, before travelling along the M2 to Belfast City Centre, where he resided in the 5 star Grand Central Hotel.

Biden then opened the new Ulster University campus in Belfast, where he addressed a small invited crowd, comprising of political representatives, Ulster University Representatives and Oscar-winning James Martin to name a few. The President’s visit to Northern Ireland was short as he continues his visit in the Republic of Ireland.

Multiple roads in and around the Grand Central Hotel and City Hall were closed to the public until around 3pm to accommodate the visit.

President Biden’s visit stands as a historical movement in NI history as the country celebrates 25 years on from the signing of the Good Friday/Belfast Agreement.
