Pupils from Mitchell House School were invited to Belfast City Airport and tasked with the very important job of turning on the Christmas tree lights.

Mark Cormincan, Abby McCartney, and Jackson McAuley from the east Belfast school accepted the challenge and formally signalled the beginning of the Christmas period in the terminal.

Once the impressive 15-foot tree was lit with more than 200 meters of fairy lights, Santa made a surprise appearance bringing with him gifts for the children and some festive cheer for passengers in the airport.

Stephen Patton, HR and CR Manager at Belfast City Airport, said:

“The past 21 months have been challenging for everyone and with Christmas just around the corner, it was great to get in the festive spirit and bring a smile to the faces of our passengers and of course our VIPs from Mitchell House School which is one of our seven adopted schools.”
