Chloe Scoops ‘Travel Student of the Year’ Title

Belfast Met student Chloe Gordon claimed the winning spot at this year's Travel student of the Year assessments

Belfast Met student Chloe Gordon came out tops at this year’s Travel student of the Year assessments, held in the Europa Hotel, Belfast.

There was stiff competition from all the finalists in this year’s assessments, but Belfast Met College student Chloe Gordon impressed the judges with her passion for travel, in-depth knowledge of the travel and tourism industry and dedication to her career path.

Chloe will now receive her award on stage at the Northern Ireland Travel and Tourism Awards organised by Northern Ireland Travel News, in association with Blue Insurance.

This year’s awards ceremony will be held on Friday, October 11 in the Slieve Donard Resort and Spa.

Each of the finalists were presented with a plaque to mark their achievements in making the final assessments.

The six finalists were Chloe Gordon and Ethan Reith from the Belfast Met, Arlene Lawry and Margaret O’Driscoll, from the North West Regional College and Mayo Inthanufai and Mikaela Beggan, from the South West College.

Northern Ireland Travel News’ Editor Kirsty Johnston praised the three travel industry judges who once again gave up their valuable time and expertise to carry out the assessments: “The team at Northern Ireland Travel News would like to say a huge thank you to our industry judging panel who spent the morning sharing their invaluable industry skills and knowledge with the students.”

“This years students were an absolute credit to their tutors and educational institutions. They all demonstrated a passion for travel and tourism across a range of fields including cabin crew, travel agents, tourist boards and tourist attractions.”

“It is great to see some new faces coming into the travel industry with such a varied and fresh approach to growing both the travel industry and tourism sectors.”

The 2019 judges were James McGinn, Director of Hotels, Hastings Hotel Group; Brenda Morgan, Partnership Manager for British Airways and Travel Industry Consultant Doreen McKenzie.
