UK & Ireland Document Changes: What This Means For NI Travellers

Aer Lingus has advised passengers of new travel document requirements for travel between the Republic of Ireland and the United Kingdom

Aer Lingus has advised passengers of new travel document requirements for travel between the Republic of Ireland and the United Kingdom.

From 25 February 2026, all passengers, including Irish and British nationals, will be required to present a passport or an Irish passport card for travel between the Republic of Ireland and the UK.

Non-Irish and non-British nationals will be required to apply for an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) or eVisa to travel between ROI and the UK.

This change does not affect travellers flying between Belfast and Great Britain.  Photo ID requirements remain unchanged for passengers travelling on domestic routes between Belfast and Great Britain.
