Busiest Day of the Year for UK Flights This Weekend

Across the weekend, departure numbers are 10% higher than the August Bank Holiday in 2022

This Friday (25 August) is set to see highest number of UK departures since 25 October 2019, with over 3,130 departures on that day alone, and is projected to be the busiest day of the year so far.

This Bank Holiday weekend (Friday 25 August – Monday 28 August), 11,839 flights are scheduled to depart UK airports – equating to over 2.1 million seats.

Across the weekend, departure numbers are 10% higher than the August Bank Holiday in 2022, and up 83% compared to 2021, showing a spike in outbound flights.

Scheduled departures across the weekend are also set to reach 90% of 2019 levels.

Across weekend, Heathrow Airport will see the largest number of departures, followed by Gatwick, Manchester, Stansted and Edinburgh.

The most popular international destinations for UK departures are projected to be Dublin, Amsterdam, Palma, Malaga and Faro.

easyJet is projected to be the largest airline during the weekend, followed by British Airways, Ryanair, Jet2 and TUI.
