British Airways Set For Summer Strikes

700 employees who work at Heathrow Airport have supported calls for industrial action

British Airway’s Heathrow check-in and ground staff have voted to take strike action in July.

Organised by the GMB union, British Airway’s staff are set to take a timed walk-out in July.

Announced on Thursday (23 June), 700 employees who work at Heathrow Airport have supported calls for industrial action. The call for industrial action comes after a ten percent cut to wages was imposed during the pandemic and has yet to be reinstated.

The GMB union has been calling for this ten percent to be permanently reinstated into worker’s wages. While British Airways has offered a one-off ten percent payment to workers.

It has been suggested that these strikes will be delayed until the third or fourth weekend in July, with plans to coincide it with the beginning of the summer holidays.
