British Airways has been forced to put thousands of staff members back on furlough due to the delay in reopening international travel.

Many staff had been brought back in anticipation of the peak summer travel season, however with so few green list destinations on the UK’s list, the carrier were forced to ask staff to go back on furlough.

A spokesperson for British Airways said: “Like many companies we’re using the furlough scheme to protect jobs during this unprecedented crisis. However, it’s vital the government follows its risk-based framework to reopen international travel as soon as possible.”
