Bank Holiday Weekend Departures To Reach 92% of 2019 Levels

Today (Friday 24 May) is set to the be the busiest day for UK Airports since October 2019 with over 3,150 departures scheduled for today alone.

In research conducted by Cirium,  it is estimated that over the course of  the Bank Holiday weekend (Friday 24 – Monday 27 May 2024),  11,959 flights are scheduled to depart UK airports – equating to over 2.1 million seats.

Across the weekend, estimated departure numbers are 5% higher than the same dates in 2023. While scheduled departures across the weekend are also set to reach 92% of 2019 levels. 

The most popular international destinations for UK departures are projected to be Dublin, Amsterdam, Palma, Alicante and Malaga

easyJet is projected to be the largest airline during the weekend, followed by British Airways, Ryanair, Jet2 and TUI.
