Awe-Inspiring Luxury Discovery Voyages Over Holiday Season

Towards the end of the year, during the holiday season, Silversea is inviting travellers to spend the time wrapped in all-inclusive luxury as they voyage to discover the world’s wonders

A carefully curated selection of voyages will traverse the globe over the holiday season this year, unlocking a number of alluring destinations, from Asia to Africa, Antarctica to the Caribbean.

Spending quality time with loved ones, guests will enjoy unique opportunities to celebrate the holiday season and the New Year in some of the world’s most fascinating locales.

Four scheduled Silversea voyages will capture the spirit of the festive season and the New Year, while unlocking the world’s authentic beauty and a number of memorable experiences far and wide. From the sacred shrines of the Far East to the mesmerising Great Barrier Reef and the ultimate winter wonderland of Antarctica, the spectacular destinations will ensure a memorable holiday season for Silversea guests.

Two of the trips feature Antarctica. The Silver Explorer will set off on a round trip from Ushuaia on December 17, returning on January 4, 2019, and Silver Cloud will leave the same port on December 22, returning on January 6.

Two of the first of two expedition cruises in Antarctica over the holiday period is from Silversea’s Explorer’s Collection. Offered in partnership with London’s esteemed Royal Geographical Society, this expedition will celebrate early explorers, as Silver Explorer follows Ernest Shackleton’s legendary ‘Endurance’ expedition.

Visits to the Falkland Islands, South Georgia, Elephant Island, Antarctic Sound, Antarctic Peninsula and the South Shetland Islands will offer the chance to witness jaw-dropping scenery and amazing wildlife, including several species of penguins, dolphins, seals, whales, and so much more. History enthusiasts can look forward to the rich collection of documentary evidence that will be on loan from the Royal Geographical Society, presented with insights from special guest speaker Nicholas Crane, a former president of the society.

The second expedition voyage to visit Antarctica over the holiday season will feature remarkable ice-covered landscapes and rare wildlife will feature as the highlights of this 15-day voyage.

Aboard the most luxurious expedition ship afloat – Silver Cloud – Silversea guests will explore New Island, West Point Island, Stanley, Bleaker Island, Sea Lion Island, the legendary Drake Passage, Elephant Island, Antarctic Sound, Antarctic Peninsula, and the South Shetland Islands, before returning to Ushuaia.

Meanwhile, nature lovers will revel in the evocative vistas and remarkable wildlife showcased on a Bali to Sydney itinerary (Australia and Indonesia) on board Silver Muse, from December 21 to January 6.

Beginning with an overnight stay in Bali, with its mystical landscapes, and a visit to Komodo Island, famous for its incredible dragons, the voyage journeys to the land Down Under with calls in Darwin, Cairns, Townsville, Airlie Beach and Brisbane.

There will be highlights to experience each day, as Silver Muse makes her inaugural visit to Australia. From Darwin, guests can explore the diverse natural beauty of the Outback on an optional land adventure. An overnight in Cairns offers abundant time to swim or snorkel in the pristine waters of the Great Barrier Reef. And culturally vibrant Sydney, with its iconic harbour and Opera House, should be on everyone’s travel bucket list.

The fourth of the holiday season cruises takes in the Far East, from Singapore to Hong Kong, aboard Silver Shadow from December 22 to January 5, 2019.
For those who dream of a holiday season that brims with magical moments, Southeast Asia has much to offer.

Departing from vibrant Singapore, Silver Shadow will sail through the Far East, starting with an overnight in Bangkok, offering ample time to discover its glittering temples, magnificent Grand Palace, venerated Emerald Buddha, and more. Then, a two-night stop in Ho Chi Minh City, once known as the Pearl of the Orient, will reveal this city’s delightful mix of French colonial buildings, bustling markets, and exotic cuisine. Outside the city, guests might opt for a scenic cruise on the Mekong Delta, kayaking in a mangrove forest, or exploring the Cu Chi Tunnels. Providing the perfect finale for this amazing journey is Hong Kong, with its world-class shopping, art galleries, cultural attractions, and memorable street markets.

“Our all-suite, intimate ships offer a convivial atmosphere that makes our guests feel at home. They are the perfect settings for guests to spend quality time together over the holiday season, making new friends and enjoying life-changing experiences across the world,” said Barbara Muckermann, Silversea’s Chief Marketing Officer. “Whether spotting penguins in Antarctica or exploring Sydney on Silver Muse’s inaugural call in Australia, each experience offered on our holiday season voyages will encapsulate the authentic beauty of the world and create priceless memories for our guests.”
