APT LAUNCHES FIRST ANTARCTICA EXPEDITION CRUISE IN 2024

APT is expanding its expedition programme with a brand-new, one-date-only Antarctic cruise, now open for bookings

APT is expanding its expedition programme with a brand-new, one-date-only Antarctic cruise, now open for bookings. Offering a 200-guest capacity, APT’s exclusive 14-day Antarctic Voyage will depart on 3 February 2024 and combines three nights in Buenos Aires with a 10-night cruise to Antarctica aboard a privately chartered ship, the luxury expedition vessel, Le Boreal.

About the cruise

A once-in-a-lifetime adventure, the 15-day Antarctic Voyage cruise includes all internal flights within South America, including a private return APT charter flight from Buenos Aires to Ushuaia; luxury dining with 34 included meals; all beverages on the cruise; and the services of an APT Tour Director and 12-strong Expedition Team.

In Buenos Aires, guests will enjoy a locally guided city tour, as well as the choice to explore the city’s street art culture, discover the Parisian character of the city’s architecture, or tour the Teatro Colon, a legendary opera house with the world’s leading acoustics. Cultural Freedom of Choice dining options include a Tango show or traditional Argentinian Asado experience.

The Antarctic cruise includes daily naturalist guide-led Zodiac expeditions to visit penguin rookeries, seal colonies and look out for orca, humpback and minke whales that frequent these waters. Guests will head to Deception Island, an active volcano and once home to a whaling station. They may also get the opportunity to stop at the Port Lockroy scientific base. From here, guests can send a postcard with a rare Antarctic stamp.

In Ushuaia guests can take a tour of Tierra del Fuego National Park and experience the rugged natural beauty of Argentina’s southern tip.

About Le Boreal

The stylish Le Boreal is a luxurious base from which to explore the world’s greatest untouched wilderness. Privately chartered and with no more than 200 passengers aboard, guests can venture into waters not accessible to larger ships.

Purpose built for glacial cruising, the ship combines elegance and manoeuvrability. Onboard facilities include two elegant lounges, multiple restaurants, a theatre, heated pool, fitness centre and spa.

Brad Bennetts, APT & Travelmarvel’s Head of Sales & Business Development, said:

“We are already well established as the leading expedition cruise operator in Australia’s Kimberley region, so it is very exciting to be growing this more adventurous side of our portfolio. Antarctica is one of the most bucket-list worthy expedition cruising destinations, and we are thrilled to be offering guests and agent partners a one-off sailing in February 2024. With just 200 places, we expect the cruise to sell out fast so the trade should move quickly to secure places for their customers.”
