As Part Of Its Philanthropic Efforts, APT Donates Travelmarvel Contemporary River Ship Capella To Accommodate Ukrainian Refugees In The Netherlands

Capella, one of the three new Travelmarvel Contemporary River Ships from leading cruise and touring operator APT, is providing temporary accommodation for Ukrainian refugees in the Netherlands, as part of the operator’s ongoing activity to help with the humanitarian crisis.

APT has given exclusive use of the 135-meter ship to the Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht Municipality until 30 January 2023 to help support relief efforts. For the next six months the river cruise vessel will be permanently docked in Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht, and Capella’s 91 cabins will provide safe residence for up to 182 Ukrainians who have fled the conflict with Russia. Capella’s spacious staterooms and multiple communal and dining areas that will make life onboard as comfortable as possible for its new guests.

In addition to providing accommodation for the displaced, APT has also been supporting Ukrainian victims through fundraising efforts. On behalf of its teams and our valued guests, APT has donated more than £11,500 (AUD $20,000) to the World Food Program and Global Development Group’s Ukraine appeal. In partnership, these non-profit organisations have set up an emergency relief appeal to provide food assistance for people fleeing the conflict inside Ukraine and in neighbouring countries. The food assistance operation is expected to help provide food and clean water to the two million refugees who have sought refuge in neighbouring countries, including Poland, Romania and Moldova.

APT is also proudly working in partnership with the German non-profit Friedensdorf International, or Peace Village International, which provides medical attention to children living in war zones. By administering treatment, improving local medical services and raising social awareness, they hope to create a world where peaceful cultural coexistence is possible.

APT’s teams have been desperate to help Ukraine wherever they can too. In their recent European River Cruise Fundraisers, staff across the APT and Travelmarvel brands have generated £12,000 to support victims of the conflict.
