Aer Lingus Adds Flights to Belfast-London Route

Aer Lingus is adding more flights the Belfast-London route to 'reduce load' after recently coming under fire

Aer Lingus is adding more flights the Belfast-London route to ‘reduce load’ after recently coming under fire when pictures emerged on an almost full flight with no apparent social distancing measures in place.

The airline responded to complaints saying that it had conducted a review of its operation of the air link and had now identified several ways to improve on its COVID-19 responsibility.

These will include checking in increased numbers of bags, changes to the boarding procedure, and the cancellation of in-flight services.

In a statement, the airline said: “The Belfast–London Heathrow service is provided to maintain a vital air link between Belfast and London and to allow critical workers to travel where required.

“The safety and security of Aer Lingus’ customers and crew is our number-one priority, and these process changes are being implemented as a matter of urgency.

“In order to reduce the operational pressure involved in implementing these measures, Aer Lingus is putting on an additional flight frequency on each day of operation of the service. The two services will depart at 08.45 and 09.45 on each day of operation. It is expected that this additional frequency will result in reduced loads on each flight.”
